Generate Barcodes in Word, Excel, PowerPoint

In this tutorial, we will see whether how we can add barcodes in MS Office Docs like Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Well barcoding is a great way of not-only tracking the inventory but-also it improves the sales process as it provides the concerned information quite conveniently and accurately.

Instructional Tutorial:

Anyhow, here you can see that I have a very basic product info table consist on three columns named” Product Code” “Product Name”, and “Barcodes”.

Well, in the Product code column, I have product codes based on numbers and combination of alphabet and numbers.

And to create barcodes, we need to change the formatting from numbers to text and since nothing else will to be written in the column in my case, i can select the whole column and can change the formatting either by clicking the dropdown here and selecting text, or I can click on this arrow and selecting “text” under the “Number” tab.

Now, write a formula by adding the parenthesis and selecting the concerned cell where you have written your product code, and hit enter. Now our product code has been added here and all we need is to just change the font to turn it into a barcode and here you can see that I don’t have a concerned font to change it into barcode. So, search “free barcode fonts” on your search engine and find one of your choice to download.

And for the sake of example, I am downloading this one, it will be downloaded into a zip file which you can extract with an extractor of your choice. Since, I have installed “Winrar”, I can just right click on it and extract the files by selecting “Extract Here”.

Now, just install the font by running this set-up file and after installing, open your excel file and search the installed font and here you can see that it’s been installed and all we need is to just select the cell we want to change into barcode and then change its font and here you can see that the barcode has been created and since I haven’t locked the formula by adding the dollar signs, i can just drag the formula down to create all.

Well, the barcodes are dynamic too, which means, if you make any change in the product code, it will automatically update the barcode too.

Well, Exactly the same way, you can create barcodes in Word and PowerPoint. Remember, if the font does not appear in the fonts list after installing, then just close your MS office docs and re-open them and then you will be able to see the font and can apply it to create barcodes and I hope this will be helpful for someone out there and thanks for watching.
