Deactivate Google Assistant from Cell Phone

Google Assistant is like a talking helper in your phone that listens for commands. You can ask it to send a text, play music, or answer questions. While some people find it handy, others feel it listens too much or pops up when they don’t need it, which can get a little annoying.

Steps to turn off Google Assistant:

·         Open the Google app on your phone.

·         Tap on your profile picture or the More option at the bottom.

·         Go to Settings.

·         Select Google Assistant.

·         Scroll down and tap on General.

·         Toggle off the switch next to Google Assistant.

·         Confirm when it asks if you want to turn it off.

Why is it important to turn it off?

Well, not everyone is comfortable with their phone always listening for the “Hey Google” command. Even if it’s meant to be secure, many people prefer that extra peace of mind knowing their microphone isn’t waiting for a wake word. Turning it off gives you more control over your privacy.

Another reason is practicality. Google Assistant sometimes activates by mistake, especially if you press the wrong button or say something that sounds similar to “Hey Google.” That can interrupt what you’re doing, drain battery, or just be plain irritating. By switching it off, your phone feels simpler to use without the random interruption.
